What are flatbed sewing inserts?

When you purchase a Horn sewing cabinet, the tabletop has a rectangular cut-out for your sewing machine, so that you can raise/lower the machine for flatbed sewing. Flatbed sewing inserts are clear acrylic sheets that we custom-cut to fit around your sewing machine arm, to fill the gaps between the machine and your work surface (see image above). This creates a smooth & seamless work area where your machine and tabletop are on the same level, helping to prevent issues like sore wrists and muscles. It also means that your material won't get caught under the lip of the tabletop cutout.

How do I know which size insert I need?

The “Product Information” section of applicable sewing cabinets will tell you which insert fits that particualr cabinet. Likewise, the “Product Information” section of each insert will tell you which sewing tables fit that insert.

How do I communicate which type of sewing machine I have?

Add the appropriate insert for your sewing cabinet to cart. At checkout in the “Delivery Method” section, there's a space for additional notes. Type your machine make and model there. For example: “I have a Bernina 435 sewing machine”.

Processing

Because every insert is made to order (most sewing machines have a different arm shape), please allow up to 2 weeks for us to cut and dispatch your insert. If there are any issues with the shape, please call 02 8881 9567.
