We would like to firstly apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced during this unprecedented period in time in regards to your orders or shopping experience.
As you know, consumers and businesses are experiencing the effects of COVID-19 all around the world, including right here in Australia. With Melbourne going back into lockdown, many suppliers and businesses that provide Hobbysew with goods and services have since closed or have restricted their hours and staff to comply with social distancing guidelines and parameters. This has affected Australia as a whole with many businesses operating well below their normal capacities, including us here at Hobbysew.
Since the start of this year we saw an increase in demand across all Hobbysew stores and our online website which allowed us to hire more staff to help accommodate with the influx of orders and sales. With Melbourne entering their second lockdown of the year we have seen an increase in demand in Hobbysew stores and products of over 500% since Monday 3rd of August. We were not prepared for such a large increase that we have been over-cumbered and left trying to regain our footing as we enter the latter half of the year.
Our plan to satisfy all of our customers is a slow but achievable path. As of next week we are moving our internet sales team to a new facility closer to our warehouse team to help with the processing and shipping of orders. Unfortunately there will continue to be potential freight delays as those businesses are also experiencing high demand and are running as best as they can during this time. Along with this we plan to expand our team in all of the areas that are suffering from such high demand and get the all the help we can to get us as close to a normal working capacity.
We ask that you be patient with any orders or services placed with us and other retailers during these unprecedented times while get back to our feet. We extended our sincerest apologies to customers that have experienced exponential delays and unexpected issues during this period. We hope to get back on top of the demand as soon as possible but with the ongoing COVID-19 situation we can only take it one day at a time, together.
